TIM VAUGHN
BLUES ROOTS ROCK
Tim Vaughn is a New Zealand based, Canadian blues roots rock artist Tim’s self-produced debut album, TWO TONE BLUE, was released in 2003, and it wasn’t long before the blues infused rock tracks like “Just The Same,” “All She Knows,” and the lead off “I Can’t,” made critics and fans alike sit up and take notice. Shear musicianship rang true, with influences from Jeff Healey, Stevie Ray, ZZ Top, and Hendrix we’re more than merely apparent. For the critically-acclaimed follow-up, READ BETWEEN THE LINES in 2011, he turned to Wide Mouth Mason guitarist and front man Shaun Verreault for production. Again, an independent release, and like its predecessor, READ BETWEEN THE LINES was made up of all original material earning him a nomination for BEST NEW ARTIST at the Maple Blues Awards the same year. Songs like “Back Before the Dawn,” “Thirst”, “Just The Same”, “Leaving You Behind”, and “Sharp Like An Arrow” took the genre to new levels inthe eyes of many critics. Blistering axe-work, with song-writing that blended his blues influences with an inspired energy borrowed from other genres. “Blues, strapped to a wagon-wheel of finger-licking riffs, greasy funk, plaintive folkie lyrics and bird-flipping punk attitude. Yet, Vaughn’s soulful then crisply energizing asides on the guitar are the wooden spoon stirring this crazy pot of musical gumbo.” Nick Deriso - Half Notes Album Reviews.
